(BEDFORD) - Mike Mitchell, superintendent of city parks, presented the 2012 annual report to members of the Bedford Parks Board. Mitchell says community activities would not be possible without the partnerships the city has made with organizations and businesses within the community.
He also updated the board on recent system upgrades. Those upgrades include a new facility on the north side of Shane Ahmed Park, new playground equipment at Wilson and Thornton.
Roofs were replaced at Otis and Wilson parks. Mitchell added that the cart paths had been resurfaced at Otis, the slide at John Lowery Pool has been refurbished and painted, and the overhaul of the department's office at Thornton Park is complete.
Mitchell wants to remove the tennis courts at Otis Park this summer and install new ones at Wilson Park, where they will be more accessible.
