(MITCHELL) - Jamie Jones, of Mitchell, was suffering from a mysterious abdominal pain and went to the hospital Feb. 9 and that is when she discovered was she was in labor.
Carol Johnson of the Times-Mail reports that when Jones couldn't stand the pain any longer, she called her mother and grandmother to take her to IU Health Bedford Hospital.
From there she went to the hospital in Bloomington.
She was shocked when the attending physician told her the news. They performed an ultrasound and found a heartbeat. Jones was confused and in pain and worried about the baby's health because she had not had any prenatal care.
Her mother called Jones' boyfriend Clint Pelfry.
Jones says she didn't experience many of the physiological changes and symptoms associated with pregnancy. And the few times she wondered if she might be pregnant, the pregnancy tests were negative.
On Feb. 10, Jones delivered Logan Matthew Pelfrey just after midnight at Indiana University Health Bloomington Hospital. The healthy boy weighed 7 pounds, 3 ounces.
Jones says she plans to return to her job at the Mitchell Library. She takes online classes at St. Mary of the Woods. Clint is enrolled at Ivy Tech.
