(DAVIESS COUNTY) - Five people were injured in two separate accidents Friday in Daviess County.
The first accident occurred at 4:42 a.m. Friday morning when a herd of deer ran in front of 48-year-old Grant Cameron of Petersburg near the Sandy Hook Curve on State Road 57 south of Washington.
Cameron swerved to miss the deer and hit the eastside guard, crossed the road and went into a ditch on the west side of the road.
Cameron was trapped in his vehicle. After he was extricated, Cameron was taken by ambulance to the Daviess Community Hospital for treatment.
In a second accident, four people were injured in a two vehicle crash on State Road 257 south of Washington.
According to a Daviess County Sheriff's Department report, 31-year-old Chad Brugan, of Cannelburg, was not able to stop for a vehicle turning into a driveway and swerved left of center to avoid hitting that vehicle.
When he swerved he pulled into the path of on on-coming 2012 Ford driven by Patsy Powell, of Otwell.
After impact, Brugan's 1992 Chevy continued down an embankment on the east side of the road and through a fence owned by Clint Underhill.
Brugan was not injured. Powell, and her three passengers, 39-year-old Ann Powell, 47-year-old Paulette Martin, and 9-year-old Emma Garland, all of Huntingburg, were taken by ambulance to the Daviess Community Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
