(PAOLI) - An Okeechobee, Fl. man was killed after being ejected from the vehicle he was driving Thursday night.
According to Orange County Sheriff's Department Public Information Officer Bill Fullington, 64-year-old Curry Joe Joyner died at the scene.
The accident happened on U.S. 150, five miles east of Paoli around 7:20 p.m.
According to the press release, Joyner's passenger, 64-year-old Treasa Edwards, of Hardinsburg, was also ejected from the vehicle.
She was transported to IU Health Paoli Hospital and then transferred to the University of Louisville Hospital for treatment. There was no update available on her condition this morning.
Fullington says the ice covered roadways contributed to the crash, and officers are investigating other factors.
Deputies from the Orange County Sheriff's Department were assisted by first responders from both Lavonia and Southeast Fire Departments.
