(BLOOMINGTON) - Bloomington police arrested a former Chase Bank employee Tuesday after she admitted to stealing a total of $4,550 from her cash drawer during a three-month period.
Lauren Marie Siniard, 22, faces a preliminary felony charge of theft and larceny after admitting to BPD Detective Randy Gehlhausen Tuesday that she was aware of how audits within the company were conducted.
She had learned to replace the money before audits occurred so the theft would go undetected, BPD Sgt. Joseph Crider said.
BDP began its investigation Feb. 11 when a Chase official contacted Gehlhausen after the bank conducted an unscheduled audit and noted a discrepancy with Siniard's cash drawer, Crider said.
Monroe County Jail officials confirmed Siniard's detainment but were unable to release bond information due to an computer system error.
The Chase official told Gehlhausen the company confronted Siniard, Crider said, and she did not return to work after that. Siniard was a Chase employee for about one year.
