(JACKSON COUNTY) - Flooding along the East Fork White River and Muscatatuck River poses dangers for Jackson County motorists tempted to drive through high water.
A wrong decision can prove dangerous - if not fatal - for stranded drivers, their passengers and the first responders dispatched to rescue them from rushing, often frigid flood waters.
That's a primary reason Jackson County Sheriff's Department recently resurrected its Swift Water Rescue Team.
The crew regrouped last year and has continued training monthly to be ready for any water-rescue situation.
Routine flooding in low areas throughout Jackson County makes the team an essential asset.
