(UNDATED) - Lawrence County Police are investigating the burglaries at several homes. The first two were discovered Friday night.
According to Sheriff Sam Craig, the department was notified at 7 p.m. with a report that someone had forced open a front door of a home in the 1700 block of Cody Road in Mitchell.
"A firearm and other small items were taken," Craig says.
Then at 8:12 p.m. officers received a report that someone attempted to pry open several windows at a home in the 700 block of Harold Smith Road.
"Entry was not gained, but they attempted to get in through several windows," Craig says "Nothing was taken from the home."
The third call came in at 3:28 p.m. Saturday. Officers found a back door pried open to a home in the 1300 block on Burton Cemetery Road.
"There were several items missing from the home," Craig says. "At this time that is all the information we can release."
Anyone with information about the break-ins should call the sheriff's department at 275-3316.
"Any information at all could be of help," Craig says.
