(BEDFORD) - In just the last 12 days, the Lawrence County Veterans Service office has assisted 63 veterans.
Director Brad Bough says the assistance has been as complicated as spending more than 2 hours helping a vet fill out paperwork for compensation to simply providing a disabled veteran with a fish and hunting license. They have also made six out of office visits to veterans that are mobility challenged.
Bough also participated in a benefits seminar at Stonebridge Health Campus where more than 40 people attended. From this seminar, Bough and his staff received 25 written request forms, requesting various types of information and assistance.
In the last 12 days, the office has received and placed more than 260 phone calls.
Bough would also like to thank the Brownies, Cub Scouts and Fayetteville Baptist Church for a combined donation of more than 300 Valentine's Day cards. The cards were delivered to hospitalized veterans at Roudebush VA Hospital in Indianapolis.
