(BLOOMINGTON) - Prosecutors in Bloomington have filed misdemeanor charges against the son of basketball great Larry Bird following an altercation with an ex-girlfriend.
They charged 21-year-old Connor Bird with battery, criminal recklessness and possession of less than 30 grams of marijuana.
Indiana University police arrested Bird Sunday after the woman reported Bird drove his car at her during an argument.
Bird's attorney, John Tompkins, says prosecutors decided on reduced charges after reviewing the evidence. Bird had faced a preliminary felony charge of intimidation.
Monroe County Chief Deputy Prosecutor Bob Miller says the intimidation charge wasn't filed wasn't filed because there's no evidence Bird tried to run the woman over.
Larry Bird starred at Indiana State and with the Boston Celtics and was coach and president of the Indiana Pacers.
