(ORLEANS) - A large number were in attendance for Sunday night’s joint Community Service held at the Orleans Wesleyan Church fellowship hall in celebration of the first ever, “Love Your Community” event.
The special service sponsored by the Orleans Ministerial Association also included a soup supper with food prepared and supplied by a number of area churches.
Recognition was given during the event to all Orleans educators who were present along with local elected officials, community leaders and fire and police personnel.
Guest speaker for the banquet was Orleans Elementary School principal Chris Stevens who stressed the importance of community and place along with the roles each individual have been assigned in the life of the community.
At the close of the service Orleans Town Council President presented a formal Proclamation prepared from the town officials setting aside Monday, February 25, 2013 as "Loving Your Community."
