(LYONS) - Lyons Town Marshal Ronald Sparks waived his initial hearing and reading of charges when he was in Greene Superior Court Tuesday morning.
Anna Rochelle of the Greene County Daily World reports that 40-year-old Sparks was placed on administrative leave Feb. 15th pending the outcome of the criminal case filed against him. He will receive full pay and benefits for 28 days.
Following an investigation by Special Prosecutor Barry Brown of Bloomington, a criminal case was filed against Sparks on Feb. 8 and a warrant issued for his arrest. Sparks turned himself in at the Greene County Sheriff's Department where he posted bond and was released.
Sparks has been charged with criminal confinement, a class D felony, and battery, a class B misdemeanor, that allegedly occurred on November 3rd.
He is being represented by Defense Attorney Jacob Fish.
During the hearing, the female victim in the case testified in support of vacating the no-contact order, and the order was vacated by Judge Dena Martin.
Sparks' next scheduled court date, for a pre-trial conference, is set for April 8.
