(SHOALS) - Sergeant Keith Keller with the Martin County Sheriff’s Department is informing citizens that trespassing on private property could land you in jail.
Officers responded to a call last week where a pickup truck was reported in a farmer's field. When they arrived the vehicle was stuck in the mud.
The driver was cited for criminal mischief. Keller says anyone that causes damage to property could face jail time and fines and pay restitution for the damages.
Keller says criminal mischief could carry up to 180 days in jail and $1,000 fine. The sheriff's department would like to remind everyone to drive responsibly.
