(BEDFORD) - The Bedford Rotary Club will host a dinner toasting former Bedford North Lawrence girls basketball coach Pete Pritchett April 6 at 6 p.m. at the First Baptist Church Family Life Center.
Pritchett, a 2007 inductee into the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame, guided the Lady Stars to the 1983 state championship in his first season as head coach. BNL also was runner-up in 1990, won the title in 1991, and was runner-up again in 1992.
Tickets are $18 in advance and $20 at the door. Tables of eight are available.
Tickets can be purchased at Copy Trolley, the Bedford Area Chamber of Commerce, Group One, or from any member of the Bedford Rotary Club.
Proceeds will go toward the Rotary's scholarship fund.
During Pritchett's 12-year reign at BNL the Lady Stars were 271-25, with 10 of those losses coming in the state tourney. The Stars captured 11 consecutive Hoosier Hills Conference championships and reeled off an 88-game regular-season winning streak during those dynasty years.
Pritchett won an incredible 92 percent of his games while directing the Lady Stars.
His program also generated three mental attitude award winners. Shannon Cummings claimed the coveted state medal in 1990. Carrie Mount won it in 1991, and Marla Inman made it an unprecedented three-peat for BNL in 1992.
