(MITCHELL) - Some water customers in the city of Mitchell are under a precautionary boil order after a water main broke this morning.
The order, which is standard procedure when repairing water line breaks, will remain in effect until further notice.
The order affects the area that includes Teke Burton Drive, north of the cemetery, as well as Hatfield Elementary School, AKKA Plastics, C&M Conveyor, Sprint, Gasoline Alley and Hancock Construction.
According to the water utility, customers should:
* Bring all water to a boil and let it boil vigorously for two minutes. Let it cool before using.
* Or use bottled water while the order is in effect.
Pre-boiled or bottled water should be used for all food preparation, drinking, brushing teeth, washing vegetables or dishes.
Customers with questions should call the water department at 849-4168.
