(DAVIESS COUNTY) - Three people were hospitalized after a Saturday morning car-semi accident near 73 mile marker on Interstate 69.
The Daviess County Sheriff's Department says that 18-year-old Isaiah Ehmke of Waterloo, was northbound on I-69 and had just passed a northbound 2001 Freightliner driven by 53-year-old Dennis Salisbury, of Douglasville, Georgia.
According to witnesses, just as Ehmke had returned to the right lane of traffic, a herd of deer ran onto the highway. Ehmke braked hard to avoid the deer and Salisbury's truck could not avoid impact with the rear of Ehmke's Dodge.
Ehmke, and his passenger, 18-year-old Kerby Park of Auburn, were trapped in the car and had to be extricated.
Ehmke suffered injuries to his head and back. Park suffered fractures and dislocations to her arm. Salisbury, was bleeding from his head and suffered dizziness.
All three were transported by ambulance to the Daviess Community Hospital.
