(WASHINGTON) - The Washington School Board met in a special meeting on Tuesday for a student expulsion hearing.
Nate Smith of the Times Herald reports that the board unanimously voted to uphold a recent expulsion of a student by school administrators
Although the student's name and details of the expulsion were not given due to privacy laws, the board says the student violated the rule in the student handbook that states: Engaging in the unlawful selling of a controlled substance or engaging in a criminal law violation that constitutes a danger to other students or constitutes an interference with school purposes or an educational function.
In other business a grand opening ceremony will be held at 9 a.m. Monday in the Lena Dunn Elementary library. The library was recently renovated with a donation from former student Tom Emmons. The Emmons family will be at the school Monday for the unveiling.
