(MONTGOMERY) - Barr-Reeve’s Superintendent, Travis Madison said the school system will be holding meetings with Barr and Reeve Township residents beginning in early April to explain the referendum.
If the voters of Barr and Reeve Townships approve the referendum, property taxes would be increased by up to 35 cents per $100 of assessed valuation for the next seven years.
Absentee ballots will be sent out beginning March 23 to voters who request them from the Daviess County Clerk's office.
Barr and Reeve Township residents who are not registered to vote have until April 8 to register to vote in the referendum.
Early voting will take place in the Clerk's Office at the Daviess County Court House between April 22 and May 3 during regular office hours, and May 4 and 6 from 8:00 a.m. to noon. Polls for the referendum will be open at the fire stations in Montgomery, Cannelburg and Alfordsville from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on May 7.
The cost of the election is being incurred by the school and not county taxpayers.
