(ORLEANS) - The board of the Bethel Cemetery Association requests that all old (unsightly) flowers and decorations in the cemetery be removed by May 1.
After that, the cemetery will discard everything not on shepherd's hooks or on top of grave stones/foundations.
After May 1, the following rules are in effect:
* All items not on a shepherd's hook or situated on top of the grave stone/foundation will be discarded. Flowers not in vases or protective containers will be removed seven days from placement.
* All live flowers will be removed after becoming unsightly or wilted.
* Decorations other than flowers (birthday decorations, holiday decorations, toys, etc.) will be removed seven days after any major holiday or placement. U.S. flags will be removed once damaged, faded or torn. Otherwise, flags will be removed two weeks after July 4.
* No vegetation of any kind to include flowers, shrubbery or trees can be planted anywhere within the cemetery.
