(BLOOMINGTON) - To show its support for the IU men’s basketball team, the City of Bloomington Animal Shelter is kicking off its March Madness adoption special.
The Shelter will reduce adoption fees by $5 for each of IU's wins. A "Double Dribble" two-for-one adoption fee will also be available for all adult cats and an "All Star" adoption fee of $40 will be available for all dogs and cats who are 30-day veterans of the Shelter.
"We have a few good Hoosiers hoping to become part of the starting lineup in your family," said Mayor Mark Kruzan. "When you adopt a shelter pet, everybody wins."
The adoption fee covers a first round of vaccinations, a visit to a local veterinary office, heartworm or feline leukemia/FIV testing, implantation of a microchip ID and spaying or neutering. The fee is regularly $75 for dogs and cats under 5 years old and $55 those over 5 years old.
The public can visit adoptable animals at the City of Bloomington Animal Shelter located at 3410 S. Walnut St. The shelter is open to the public Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from noon to 5 p.m., Tuesdays and Fridays from noon until 7 p.m., and Sundays from 1 to 4 p.m.
Adoptable animals can also be viewed on the shelter web site at www.bloomington.in.gov/animalshelter and on the Shelter's Facebook page at ww.facebook.com/COBAnimalShelter.
