(BEDFORD) - One of the top priorities of the new Boys & Girls Club of Lawrence County is creating a secure financial future for the club.
Dr. Jim Sowders, chairman of the resource development committee, says the committee has planned several fundraisers that will involve the entire community and be fun for everyone involved.
The first fundraiser is a Dream Playhouse Auction.
Eight teams have signed up to build a playhouse.
The eight teams building playhouses are Pritchett Brothers Inc., Lineal Contracting, Tri-County Builders, Bedford Federal Savings Bank, Spring Mill FOP, Torch Club, Bedford Fire Department and UAW/IBEW/GM.
The teams have until April 1 to finish their playhouses.
The completed houses will be placed around town for display until the April 20 auction.
The playhouses will be sold at auction on April 20, the same night as the Boys and Girls Club of Lawrence County annual dinner.
In addition, the Lawrence County Live Well will have its 5K run/walk that morning and kids activities are planned at the club from noon to 5 p.m.
The band No Xpectations will play at the dinner/auction.
