(MITCHELL) - Executive Director of the Lawrence County Tourism Commission, Dave Branneman is retiring.
Branneman who has served in the position for five years announced his retirement at the group's board of directors meeting in February and his last day will be April 30.
Before serving on the Tourism Commission, Branneman served as principal of Mitchell Junior High School. Before that, he spent most of his career in central and northern Indiana as a teacher, administrator and coach. He spent almost 35 years in education.
Branneman earned a bachelor's degree from Indiana State University, a master's from DePauw and the administrator's license, again, from ISU.
Branneman's duties as executive director of tourism was to promote Lawrence County's tourism opportunities.
Before he retires, Branneman will help train the new director. Applications for the position were due Wednesday, and the board have started interviews and should have a new director within the next few weeks.
