(HARDINSBURG) - A Hardinsburg man was killed in a single-vehicle crash Saturday night at the intersection of County Road 725 South and Oak Grove Road, in Southeast Township in Orange County.
According to Orange County Public Information Officer Bill Fullington, the department received a 911 call at 8:46 p.m.
When they arrived they found a 1994 Chevrolet truck on its side. 42-year-old Stewart Shurman, the driver, was unresponsive.
Despite the efforts of first responders, Shurman's injuries proved to be fatal and he was pronounced dead at the scene by Orange County Coroner Aaron Kemple.
Police says speed was a factor in the crash. Shurman was not wearing a seatbelt and Fullington says that contributed to his injuries.
Police says the accident is still under investigation.
Assisting at the scene were firefighters from Southeast and Livonia Fire Departments, along with an ambulance from Indiana Health Paoli Hospital.
