(TERRE HAUTE) - The Bedford North Lawrence Lady Stars defeated Fort Wayne South in the Class 4A girls basketball state championship game Saturday night.
BNL won 54 to 51.
Lady Stars Senior reserve forward Carli Fields enjoyed a double-win as she helped Bedford North Lawrence to the third girls basketball state championship in school history, and then became the fourth winner of the Patricia L. Roy Mental Attitude Award during post-game festivities.
Members of the IHSAA Executive Committee present the Patricia L. Roy Mental Attitude Award to an outstanding senior participant, nominated by their principals and coaches, who must excel in mental attitude, scholarship, leadership and athletic ability in basketball.
Fields joins Shannon Cummings (1989-90), Carrie Mount (1990-91) and Marla Inman (1991-92) as BNL recipients of the prestigious honor.
