(UNDATED) - The Indiana University Alumni Magazine recently featured IU’s public health efforts.
And that meant shining a spotlight on Lawrence County, too.
Specifically, the magazine looked at the local effort to stop domestic violence.
As the magazine reports it, the violence prompted conversations between Lawrence Superior Court I Judge Michael Robbins and Linda Henderson, a field representative for the Indiana Youth Institute.
Henderson introduced Robbins to the dean at the School of HPER. Soon the school got the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Indiana State Department of Health involved.
The result was a task force that includes a broad spectrum of Lawrence County people, including Bedford mayor Shawna M. Girgis and Mitchell Mayor Gary Pruett, among many others.
