(ORANGE COUNTY) - Following a 17-month period of no fatal crashes, Orange County has now experienced three deaths in a six week period.
The crashes occurred under different circumstances, however, they all shared one common factor.
None of the victims were wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
Sheriff Richard Dixon says he cannot guarantee that the three victims would have survived wearing a seat belt, but certainly would have a better chance of surviving if they had been wearing one.
Seat belts will never prevent every death but they certainly increase your chances of survival in a crash.
