(SEYMOUR) -vWinning $1 million dollars is something nearly everyone dreams about happening. Most would pay off debts, take a much-needed vacation, or maybe purchase a new house or car.
The Banner reports that the dream became a reality for Seymour resident Christopher Anderson, who purchased a million-dollar top-prize winning 50 X the Money Scratch-off at Circle K on Oak Street in Seymour.
"It's amazing. It's awesome," he said. "The first thing I did was sign the back of the ticket and then put it up for safekeeping."
Anderson said he spent a couple sleepless night waiting to cash the ticket in at the Hoosier Lottery Headquarters, even though his ticket was safely stashed away. With all the excitement surrounding him, Anderson said it has felt like a dream, even thought he has not slept much.
Sleepless nights can be traced to the excitement that accompanies such a dream-come-true moment. The lack of sleep has not given him much stress.
Anderson claimed his winnings at the Hoosier Lottery Headquarters Tuesday, February 19. Anderson claimed his prize about an hour after Seymour residents Martha Wehmiller and her daughter Lucinda Howe also claimed theirs. Their winnings were $50,000. They also purchase their ticket from the Circle K on Oak Street.
Anderson works at Cummins and is a younger man in his 30s. He said he has no plans on retiring early, but will continue working for the engine giant. But as a renter, he hopes to use some of his winnings to purchase a house and some land soon.
The Circle K that sold the ticket has reported an increase in lottery purchases from the store since Anderson and Wehmiller and Howe's success.
"Our lottery purchases have almost doubled since," Nancy Copley, store manager, said. "It's the talk of the town."
