(BROWNSTOWN) - The parents of a Seymour infant may both find themselves behind bars after convictions on child abuse and neglect of a dependent charges.
Sabrina Baughman was convicted Friday on one count of neglect of a dependent resulting in serious bodily injury.
According to court records, the conviction stems from a hospital visit in February 2011. On that day, Baughman brought her 4-month-old daughter to the emergency room of Schneck Medical Center in Seymour. Doctors discovered a skull and a spiral fracture of the infant's left arm.
Court records indicate that the little girl's mother told investigators that both she, and the baby's father, Ricky Baughman, had been frustrated with the child since birth because of her crying and putting her hands in her mouth.
Both Baughman's reportedly admitted to slapping and spanking the infant. Ricky Baughman admitted that he may have struck the child hard enough to break her arm.
Ricky Baughman pleaded guilty to battery resulting in serious bodily injury to a person less than 14 years of age. He was sentenced in December 2011 to 10 years in prison with two years suspended and two years on probation.
Sabrina Baughman is set to be sentenced on March 28 by Judge William Vance. The Prosecutor's request for her to be remanded to the custody of the Jackson County Sheriff's Department until sentencing was denied by the court.
