(BEDFORD) - Gary Dorsett, Bedford’s recreation director, noted a variety of activities are under way and several prominent events are scheduled for the next few weeks.
The Gillespie Memorial Softball Tourney, designed for police and fire department teams, is slated for May 11-12, and the Larry Corps Scholarship Tourney is set for May 18-19.
Members of the Otis Park Ladies Club will stage their kick-off meeting Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the Otis Bath House. League play commences May 6. Aaron Harrell, new course manager at Otis will offer a ladies clinic Monday at Otis. The annual junior clinic is slated for June 17-21.
The Bedford Area Chamber of Commerce will host its golf outing at Otis May 15.
Dorsett welcomed baseball enthusiasts to join him for a trip to Victory Field Wednesday morning to watch the Indianapolis Indians play the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs. Reservations are due by Friday. The cost is $25, and the group will depart Thornton Park at 9 a.m.
Dorsett said the staff is looking forward to this year's car show, which shifts from Thornton Park to the downtown square on April 27 sponsored by parks department and Super Oldies.
There will also be activities for the kids. The cost is $10 to enter a car or truck. You can pre-register at the park's department office or at the show.
