(BLOOMINGTON) - Alisa Alering, of Bloomington, will be honored during the 29th annual L. Ron Hubbard Achievement Awards in Hollywood, Calif., as a “Writer of the Future.”
Alering is one of 12 winning writers to be honored. Twelve illustrators will also be honored at the ceremony.
The April 14 awards ceremony will include the announcement of the year's two grand prize winners who will each receive $5,000. The winning stories and illustrations will appear in the annual anthology L. Ron Hubbard Presents Writers and Illustrators of the Future, Volume 29.
In 1983, L. Ron Hubbard started the Writers of the Future writing contest to help budding writers. Alering has sold three stories and contributes the "Writer's Room" column to Waylines magazine.
