(BEDFORD) - When Bedford North Lawrence students return Monday from spring break, the BNL Renaissance will be gearing up for the Mr. BNL, an all-male beauty contest.
The teens will be judged in five categories at the annual spoof on beauty pageants. The competition will be April 5 at 7 pm in the BNL Performing Arts Center.
Practices will take place next week.
Mr. BNL is the primary fundraiser of Renaissance, which encourages and rewards students for good attendance and improving their grades.
Clayton Orender was crowned 2012 Mr. BNL.
Mr. BNL is open to any male student. Each candidate represents a school club or team. The teens are judged on a fitness routine (20 points), costume (25 points), talent (20 points), formalwear/interview (25 points) and overall impression (10 points.)
Mr. BNL tickets cost $5 for adults and students, $3 for children younger than 10, free for children younger than five.
