Last updated on Sunday, April 14, 2013

(COLUMBUS) - Columbus firefighters responded to an apartment fire around 2 a.m. Friday in the 2800 block of Two Worlds Drive.

Lt. Matt Myers, public safety spokesman for the city of Columbus, says firefighters from Stations 1, 2, 3 and 4 were called to the scene. When they got there, they found the apartment fully engulfed in flames.

The apartment's owner, Tammy Broady, was not at home when the fire started, but her 17-year-old son Parker was. He was able to escape out of a second floor window and jumped onto a roof. He was not injured.

The cause of the fire is not known at this time. Damage is estimated at $70,000.
