(BLOOMINGTON) - Biologists are seeking Bloomington residents’ help in finding newborn deer throughout the southern Indiana city.
Chad Stewart and Tim Carter are beginning a three-year research project to study the white-tailed deer population in Bloomington. They're also studying deer in nearby Morgan-Monroe State Forest.
The Herald Times reports the scientists need to locate 25 newborn or very young fawns in the Bloomington area and 25 fawns in the rural area. The fawns will be outfitted with radio collars so they can be monitored.
Does usually give birth between late May and early June. The biologists are seeking assistance from Bloomington residents who may see a fawn in their backyard or nearby woods.
