(BEDFORD) - Eric Marvin has been named the new executive director of the The Lawrence County Tourism Commission.
Marvin brings a unique breadth of knowledge, enthusiasm, skills, and personal experience that make him exceptionally qualified for this role.
Marvin was selected from a very competitive field of applicants. It was his proven
experience, coupled with his passion to grow the organization that resulted in his selection.
"Eric has done tremendous things in Monroe County, and we are looking forward to his
leadership in continuing the positive direction of tourism promotion for Lawrence County," said Jim Richards, president of the Lawrence County Tourism Commission.
In his current role as the Director of Sports Development for a division of the Convention & Visitors Bureau of Monroe County, Marvin helped the Hoosier Sports Corporation secure eight national championship events, increasing local economic impact by an additional $8 million, among many other things.
"I'm thrilled to have the opportunity to be part of this community and help increase and develop the tourism initiatives. Tourism is a great economic development tool and it is an honor to be selected to this position," said Marvin. "I plan on drawing on my experience in Bloomington to build on what exists here."
Marvin is replacing Dave Branneman who led the tourism commission for five years.
"Dave Branneman is a class act," said Richards. "The board is grateful for his time, dedication, and vision. Local tourism has seen tremendous success under Dave's leadership and he will truly be missed."
The Lawrence County Tourism Commission is funded by the innkeeper's tax and promotes attendance at attractions, events, destinations, and hospitability facilities in Lawrence County.
