(BEDFORD) - A least one person is dead after a wreck on Mitchell Road this afternoon.
Police officers, at least three ambulances and fire crews were called to the scene about 4:20 p.m. today.
Traffic in all four lanes are blocked, and few details are available as crews are working the accident that happened in front of Hoosier Pete.
Police are asking motorist to stay away from the area.
When the accident happen residents at 25th and J streets thought there was an explosion.
Mason Reynolds, who was near the accident site, says that is what brought him to the scene.
"It is a really bad wreck," Reynolds says.
Robert Prow, a motorist saw the accident.
"There was black smoke and then it blew up like two sticks of dynamites," he says."We got out of our vehicles to see if we could help....it was bad so bad."
Prow says one female did not have a pulse.
"That is when the firefighters arrived and they took over," Prow says. "There was just nothing we could do to help them."
