(LOOGOOTEE) - A French Lick man is facing drug charges after officers received a report of shots fired at a home in Loogootee early Wednesday morning.
According to ISP Trooper Andrew Beaver, police went to a home in the 2300 block of Rutherford Road. When officers arrived they found 25-year-old Nathan Purkhiser sitting in a vehicle. He was detained while officers investigated.
Beaver says, Purkhiser and his girlfriend had been in an argument and after that dispute Purkhiser went into the back yard and fired several rounds from a handgun.
Police recovered a .40-caliber semi-automatic handgun and a .22 caliber revolver. They also found several illegal drugs.
Purkhiser was arrested and taken to the Martin County Jail on charges of dealing and possession of a schedule I controlled substance, dealing and possession of meth with a handgun and possession of a schedule IV controlled substance, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
