(HARRODSBURG) - Guardian Martial Arts Studio in Harrodsburg, was named “School of the Year” by the USA Martial Arts Alliance at its annual Hall of Fame awards banquet.
The event was held at the Marriott East in Indianapolis on Saturday.
In addition to the designation bestowed on the school, Guardian's owner and senior instructor, 5th dan Master Gary Johnson, was named "Head Founder of the Year".
Guardian's lead instuctor, Michael Brzegowy, was recognized as "Tae Kwon Do Instructor of the Year" and received his promotion to 5th dan Master.
On Sunday afternoon, martial arts schools from all over the country competed at an Alliance-sanctioned tournament in the same venue, where six students from Guardian Martial Arts Studio won championship trophies. In addition, Master Johnson earned a 1st place trophy in Senior Division Black Belt Point Sparring.
On April 27, Guardian will be conducting its next promotion test, where 20 students will display proficiency in their skill and technique to receive their belt promotion. A pitch in meal is always held immediately after a test. All are invited to attend.
