(BLOOMFIELD) - The Bloomfield Town Council voted in a special session Thursday night to hire a new officer to the Bloomfield Police Department.
By Sabrina Westfall, of the Greene County Daily World reports, Bloomfield Town Marshal Kenneth Tharp recommended the town hire Jeremy Inman onto the force.
Inman was hired to fill a vacancy on the BPD due to Lt. Harvey Holt leaving to work for the Greene County Sheriff's Department.
Tharp noted Inman would not be serving in the capacity of lieutenant. The marshal will be taking more into consideration before choosing someone to fill the vacancy.
Tharp and town council member Dave Harding interviewed applicants over the weekend and made the decision Inman was the best choice.
Tharp noted Inman had started his career with the Bloomfield Police Department 16 years ago, and was glad to be able to bring him back onto the force.
He is a resident of eastern Greene County, served with the Bloomfield Police Department from 1997 to 2002. He then served on the Greene County Sheriff's Department starting in December 2002.
Tharp noted Inman would be an asset to the department because he has many years of service under his belt and is certified in accident recovery.
He added Inman had also been recipient of the J.D. Maxwell Memorial Award in 2005 and 2007 for making several OVWI (Operating a Vehicle While Intoxicated) arrests.
The award is given by the Maxwell family in coordination with Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD) to honor the memory of the late J. D. Maxwell.
