(BEDFORD) - Kyle Brown has been named the chief professional officer for the Boys & Girls Club of Lawrence County.
Carol Johnson of the Times-Mail reports that Brown will begin his new duties in two to four weeks. 42-year-old Brown is currently director of operations for the city of Bedford.
Before holding that position, Brown worked for the Bedford Parks and Recreation Department. Lewis said Brown hopes to start in two to four weeks.
Jim Jackson, interim director of the newly merged club since December and former executive director of the Boys Club, will remain at the club. His duties will be more operational and focus on the kids.
Bedford Mayor Shawna Girgis serves on the board of the Boys & Girls Club and chaired the search committee says Brown will be greatly missed.
Girgis says a good community needs good leaders and he's going to be one.
Brown and his wife Amy have three children: 13-year-old Kyndall, 11-year-old Klayton, and 6-year-old Abbey. Brown has enjoyed his career at City Hall, but is eager for the new challenge.
First on Brown's agenda is to meet with the executive board and with the club staff.
Upcoming events include the Dream Playhouse Auction and Annual Dinner fundraiser on April 20 and opening day at Wiley Park.
The club is hosting the Bedford Area Chamber of Commerce luncheon, featuring Butler men's basketball coach Brad Stevens on May 3, and on May 24 it will stage the Ugly Duck Derby, including a celebrity belly buster contest, at Lowery Pool.
