(BEDFORD) - Lawrence County Police Detectives investigated several cases of assault and battery over the weekend.
One incident was reported by medical personnel at IU Health Hospital Bedford. The woman was being treated after she reportedly was injured during a domestic dispute. Sherriff Sam Craig says the information gathered by police was forwarded to the Lawrence County Prosecutor's Office for review.
Another incident happened on Sunday at a home on Mystic Lake Road. Police were called after a report of a domestic fight between a woman and her boyfriend. Sheriff Craig says the woman wanted to leave the home and the male reportedly refused to let her use the cell phone to call from a ride.
"There was a physical altercation and it happened in front of a child," Craig says. "CPS was contacted and responded to the home. The information gathered was sent to the prosecutor for review."
Early Sunday morning police received a call from IU Health Bedford emergency room personnel reporting they were treating a woman who had been sexually assaulted. The woman was interviewed by police and that information was sent to the prosecutor's office for review.
Then on Friday night there was a domestic fight on Erie Church road between a man and woman. Again police responded and a case report was taken and sent to the prosecutor's office for review.
