(PAOLI) - Lost River Market and Deli in Paoli is host this month to an art exhibit produced by artists who also are consumers at Orange County’s First Chance Center.
Throughout this month, visitors to the market can see the consumers' ceramic work in the Art Corner in the front of the store.
The exhibit includes bowls by Mark Jones, Georgetta Terry, Cathy Jo Summers, Rebecca Purkhiser and Gayle Woolston. The display also includes cut-out mirrored tiles by Chuck Puente and Josh Allen; Rebecca also has mirrored tiles in the exhibit.
The artistic expressions on exhibit are funded by a grant from the Indiana Arts Commission in conjunction with Ivy Tech Community College, Bloomington, and the Monroe County Community Foundation.
The Artistic Expressions program is taught by a number of instructors, including my wife, Valerie Moon, who teaches photography. Linda Boswell teaches ceramics and painting, and Ray Beauregard, teaches woodworking. First Chance Center's direct service professionals also assist with instruction.
The mission of the First Chance Center is to promote abilities and provide opportunities for persons with disabilities or other barriers to fully participate in their community.
