(BLOOMINGTON) - Bloomington police arrested 44-year-old Craig Thacker Monday evening for his alleged involvement in an armed vehicle theft and battery.
BPD Sgt. Joseph Crider says Thacker is facing preliminary charges including robbery, carjacking, strangulation, intimidation and confinement after reportedly jumping into his ex-girlfriend's car.
Police went to University Inn, on North Walnut Street, Monday evening after receiving a report Thacker had been frequenting the hotel. When police arrived they went to his room and he was arrested.
According to Crider, the victim was parked at a gas station early Sunday morning when Thacker approached and got in the vehicle.
Thatcher allegedly held a knife to the woman's throat and told her to drive to her sister's home, Crider says, Thacker then proceeded to hit her and then drove away in her white 1991 Pontiac Sunfire.
Thacker is currently booked at the Monroe County Jail. His bond is set at $45,000 surety and $500 cash, although due to probation holds, he is not currently eligible to bond out.
