(NASHVILLE) - The father of a missing Indiana girl says he believes human remains found in Brown County are his daughter’s.
Jim McGrayel of Nashville says his daughter, Kate, disappeared while hiking not far from home three years ago. He believes his daughter died of hypothermia after napping during her hike.
Kate McGrayel was 26 when she disappeared.
The remains were found two weeks ago by mushroom hunters in a wooded area off Wise Hollow Road southwest of Nashville, located in Brown County. Authorities have not identified the body.
McGrayel, 61, says he's anxiously waiting for an identification. He says the remains were found less than a mile from the home, he and his exwife live in, but knows they could belong to someone else.
He says, "I'm almost certain it's my daughter."
A Facebook page "Help Find Kate McGrayel" has been created to gather information about her disappearance.
