(BLOOMINGTON) - Indiana University Bloomington has appointed an associate vice president for diversity, equity and multicultural affairs.
The campus announced Monday that Martin McCrory will fill the position and also serve as vice provost for educational inclusion and diversity. He's now on the faculty of the Kelley School of Business and chair of its undergraduate honors program.
IU-Bloomington provost and executive vice president Lauren Robel says McCrory, who's black, will be responsible for inclusion and diversity within the Bloomington student body, with primary responsibility for undergraduate programs. The appointment needs the approval of the IU Board of Trustees.
Protesters on the campus earlier this month called for more African-American enrollment, among other demands.
