(NORMAN) - The Jackson County Sheriff’s Department is looking for help in locating a runaway.
Robert Allen Herlein, 14, from the Norman area in Owen Township, was reported as a runaway on March 23, Lt. Andy Wayman said Thursday.
Herlein was last seen March 28 in Bedford, about 20 miles west of Brownstown.
"He was approached by Walmart security, but he gave them a different name and said that he was 18 years old," Wayman said of Herlein's visit to the store in Bedford. "Some friends who did not know he had run away had seen him and talked to him at the store, so we know he was in the store."
Wayman said foul play is not suspected in the boy's disappearance.
"Other than being out on his own and his young age, we don't know that he's in danger," Wayman said. "There are no indications that foul play is involved."
He is described as white with brown hair and green eyes. He weighs 135 to 140 pounds and is 5 feet, 10 inches to 6 feet tall, Wayman said.
Anyone with information about Herlein is asked to call the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children at 800-843-5678 or the Jackson County Sheriff's Department at 358-2141.
