(HELTONVILLE) - A Springville woman was injured after she lost control of her vehicle after driving too fast on a loose gravel road Monday night.
According to a Lawrence County Police report, 20-year-old Alexandra Parker was traveling northwest on Groundhog Road heading toward Heltonville when she lost control of her 2004 Jeep Liberty.
According to police she had came down and hill and entered a curve when the vehicle began to slide on the gravel. Parker attempted to correct the vehicle and that is when it went off the west side of the roadway and then went back onto the east side. Police say Parker traveled 127 feet attempting to gain control of the vehicle. The Jeep then left the roadway on the east side of the road and went into a ditch and then hit an embankment and flipped over, the vehicle continued to travel northwest along the embankment for 63 feet and flipped again.
Parker complained of neck, head and shoulder pain and had numerous cuts on her body. She was taken to the hospital by an IU Health Bedford Hospital ambulance crew.
Police say excessive speed and the loose gravel contributed to the accident.
