(BEDFORD) - Students will have an opportunity to exercise their creativity on April 23, when Cassandra Quinn, Bedford North Lawrence High School graduate and co-founder of Chicago-based children’s theatre Compass Creative Dramatics during a theater workshop at the Bedford Public Library.
Earlier this month, Quinn visited the after-school programs at Burris and Hatfield Elementary in partnership with the Mitchell Community Library. Students enjoyed learning about theatre through games like "Zip-Zap-Zop" and "Zookeeper."
The 45-minute workshop is a high-energy series of activities and games that encourage imagination, teamwork, trust and critical thinking. Two sessions will be offered: kids K-5 can join Quinn from 4:30-5:15 p.m., and students in grades 6-12 will participate from 5:30-6:15 p.m. Workshops are free and open to the public.
The theatre company will also offer a summer camp in Bedford from July 29 through Aug. 3.
Campers stretch their creativity and bravery muscles through daily rehearsals and workshops in topics like improv and stage combat.
Students perform alongside two professional actor/educators, who lead by example, helping your child shine.
The cost for the camp is $150 (or $125 if registered before April 26). For information, send an email to cassandra@ccdramatics.com.
