(SHOALS) - Thirty-six Shoals High School seniors who “Did It Our Way” will receive their diplomas Saturday.
Commencements will be held in the Shoals Junior-Senior High School gymansium at 2 p.m.
The Welcome address will be presented by Jessica Courtright, vice president of the class. The invocation will be given by Scott Johnson, a member of the Senior Class. The salutatorian speech will be presented by Emily Leann Richardson. The valedictorian speech will be given by Whitney Jordan Albright followed by Principal Candance Roush presenting the Class of 2013 to the audience. Mary Lou Billings, president of the school board trustees, and Dr. Joan Keller, superintendent of the Shoals Community Schools, will present the diplomas to the graduates.
The farewell address will be given by Ethan Jones, senior class president.
Robin Hamby, the junior class president, and Candi Tichenor, junior class vice president, will present the class flower, the iris. The class colors are royal blue and silver. The will graduate under the motto, "We did it our way."
Looking back on the good days, there's not a lot we regret."
The playing of the recessional by the Junior-Senior High School Band will conclude the program.

Valedictorian
Whitney Albright is the daughter of Nathan and Julia Albright.While in high school she participated in BETA Club, SADD Club, Spanish Club, Student Council, Book Club, Academic Team, Spell Bowl, Pathfinder, and Film Club, as well as volunteering as a library aide. During her high school years she has attained awards for biology I and II, chemistry I, Spanish I and II, geometry, pre-calculus, world history and AP U.S. history. At the Indiana BETA Convention during her sophomore year she also won second place in the state English competition. She has also completed community service projects by volunteering to help at the Martin County Health Department.
She will be attending Ball State University starting during the fall semester of 2013 where she intends to study photography.
Salutatorian
Emily Richardson is the daughter of Curt and Jenny Richardson. While in high school Emily participated in Beta Club, SADD Club, Student Council, Spell Bowl, Academic Team, Student Publications, Film Club, Spanish Club, and served as the secretary of the Class of 2013. She received an award from the Indiana division of the National Beta Club for third place in the social studies competition at the state convention her senior year. She has assisted in her local Red Cross blood drive. She is going to attend Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, majoring in either mechanical engineering or software engineering.
