(BLOOMINGTON) - A Bloomington artist wants to turn his love of bread baking into something his entire neighborhood can enjoy.
Keith Romaine has proposed building a wood-fired oven that would allow residents of the McDoel Gardens neighborhood to bake their own concoctions as well.
The Herald-Times reports Romaine and his neighbors plan to seek city permission for the oven. They also plan to launch a fundraising drive to come up with the $7,000 cost.
Romaine says the brick oven could produce up to 100 loaves of bread a day, as well as an assortment of pastries and pies.
The project will need city approval because Romaine hopes to sell some of the bread off-site.
