(ORLEANS) - The Orleans Chamber of Commerce again this year is promoting hospitality by inviting people to spend some time in the rocking chairs placed on the town square.
An email from Robert Henderson, the chamber's executive director, reads, "Nothing says welcome like a couple of rockers placed on the front porch."
Whether it is on the front of your business or on your home's front porch area, a rocking chair says, 'Come sit awhile.' The implied invitation promotes friendship and camaraderie like no other symbol."
The Orleans chamber, as it has done in previous warm-weather seasons, is encouraging local businesses and residents to place rockers in front of their property this summer whenever possible. Henderson said the campaign is designed to promote Orleans as "Orange County's front porch."
