(BLOOMINGTON) - Hartmann USA Inc. a medical-product manufacturer plans to shut down a plant it operates in Bloomington and lay off nearly all of the facility’s 72 employees.
The company notified Monroe County and Bloomington City officials Wednesday. The company, on West Vernal Pike, will be moving the facility o Rock Hill, South Carolina.
Bryan Sherrel, chief financial officer says a few employees will be given the opportunity to continue their employment in the Rock Hill facility.
Layoffs are likely to take place in stages but be finished by the middle of 2014, according to the company. It plans to offer separation packages to employees, although it did not offer specifics on what those would be.
Hartmann USA is a medical manufacturer with products in incontinencemanagement, compression management, wound management, sports medicine and specialty areas. Company headquarters is in Rock Hill, and it is a subsidiary of the Hartmann Group of Germany.
